Welcome to a LibGuide for English Composition 1B at Evergreen Valley College Library

This is a second-semester college composition course, emphasizing expository and argumentative writing directed toward an analysis of ideas and concepts from a wide variety of literature; this includes discussion of fiction, drama, poetry, the essay, and other expository prose-- stressing critical reading in these genres. All English 001B students will take a Department Final holistically scored by at least two faculty members and represent 20% of their course grade.

Note: This is a traditional in-person, ON-CAMPUS class with scheduled meetings on the days and times listed above. Class may be web-enhanced using Canvas and/or other applications. Students in the course will be required to take a proctored exam in person and on campus on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 11:50 AM to 01:50 PM. For additional class-specific requirements, please email the course instructor. This is a ZTC (zero textbook cost) section. English 1 B Assignments

Library card and access

To check out any resources or access articles and ebooks off campus, you must have an EVC student ID card. If you do not have a student ID card, you may pick one up at Admissions and Records.

Transferring Books from SJCC

 If you are searching the catalog and find that the book you need is located at SJCC, you may:

  • Transfer the book to the EVC library, which takes 3-4 days. To do this write down the title, author, year, call number and ask to have the book tranferred at the front desk. You will need your student ID card with you.
  • Go to SJCC and check out the book with your EVC student ID card.
