To check out any resources or access articles and ebooks off campus, you must have an EVC student ID card. If you do not have a student ID card, you may pick one up at Admissions and Records.

Find Course Reserves

 Follow these steps: 

• • Go the library home page.
  • Go to Textbooks
  • Search the textbook by instructor's name, title of book, or course name. 
  • Record the call number (sometimes a WW#) you see in the catalog beside the book you want to check out.  
    
    Make sure you have your EVC student ID card to check out any item on reserve.
    Library reserves are either 3-day checkout OR 2-hour in-library-use only items.  

Start with Keywords

All research begins with the language that you use to think about your topic. This language provides keywords, or the natural language you use to describe your research topic. Start your search by developing a simple concept map of your topic using keywords to begin your search for books, DVDs, and other material in the EVC Library catalog. Remember, you can search the Library catalog from home 24/7!

Tip: 

• Add an asterisk (*) for a base form of a word that can have multiple endings. e.g.  pollut* will find pollute, pollutant, pollution, etc. 
   
• If your search does not yield any results initially, try searching for synonyms or use variant spellings of a search term 

Start your search by using keywords. From the catalog results list, find an item of interest and click on the full record to see the subject headings assigned to that item. Click on the relevant subject heading to retrieve more items in the same category. Be sure to keep track of particular phrases that narrow or broaden your results.
