EVC Library: About Us & Services: In Person Services

Borrowing and Renewing

Evergreen Valley College students, faculty, staff, and retirees may check out library materials with their campus ID card. Loan periods vary by type of material.  You can also check out books from San Jose City College Library or you may request them to have them sent to EVC Library. You may renew books and media materials as long as a hold has not been placed on the item.  Reserves may not be renewed. Renewals may be made at the circulation desk, by phone, by e-mail, or online.  To renew items online, log into your Library Account by clicking on "Sign in" at the top right corner of the Library catalog. For further information, visit the Library Policies page.

Reserves
Course Reserves are items professors have set aside in the library for you to read for your class.  They are located at the Circulation Desk and may be checked out for a limited time period set by the instructor.  To verify whether something is on reserve, go to the Library catalog and search by Course or Instructor.  You may request the item at the Circulation Desk if it is available.

Community Borrowers
If you are not a student at Evergreen Valley College or San Jose City College but wish to receive borrowing privileges, apply for the EVC Community Borrower Card at the Circulation Desk.  Alumni and other non-students 18 years or older can purchase membership for an annual fee of $20.00.

Computers & Laptops

We have more than 40 computers located in the open area and the Library computer lab available for you to use for research.  Computers can be reserved for two hours at a time at the Circulation Desk.

Laptops are available for checkout from the Circulation Desk.  Available loan periods are 2 hours (in-library use only) and 1 week.  Find out about eligibility requirements, loan terms, and other important information through our Equipment Checkout and Use Policy page.

Copiers and Printers
We have two multifunction copy/print stations that can copy/print color, black and white, and double-sided and two laser printers that handle black and white single-sided printing.  Money can be loaded onto your campus ID card to pay for prints. A photocopying policy is in place.

Group Study Rooms

Computers are available in some of the study rooms. Markers and erasers for the whiteboards may be checked out upon request.
